Welcome to FramAT’s documentation!

FramAT (Frame Analysis Tool) is a FEM implementation of the Euler-Bernoulli beam theory (also known as classical or engineering beam theory). The tool was initially written for a low-fidelity aeroelasticity model, but FramAT is a general purpose FE beam implementation. Most notably, FramAT provides the following functionality.

  • Euler-Bernoulli beam analyses in 3D

  • Assembly of complex beam structures

  • Simple to use and documented Python API

  • Highly automatable model generation

  • Elaborate definition of beam geometry, properties and loads

  • Highly customisable plots

  • Elaborate result objects post-processing
